Girls (Infant → Teen)

Same height-vs-age logic, different proportions after ~7

Up to 24 months sizing is unisex. From toddler onward girls gain hip and waist faster than boys — hips flip by US 10 — plus the girls-only 6X half-step.

Girls' International Conversion (US / UK / EU / AU)

EU = child's height in cm (80, 86, 92…); UK/US/AU = child's age with T for Toddler. Girls are often sized by height + hip for skirts and dresses.

US Girls 2–7 Years (Toddler + Up)

Includes the girls-only 6X step — a half-size for the growth spurt before 7. Boys skip 6X and go 6 → 7.

6X is girls-only

Girls get a 6X (and sometimes 6½) half-step. A boy in 6X is usually a sizing error.

Girls' Dresses, Skirts & the "Misses" Crossover

By US 14–16 girls' sizes overlap adult misses (S/M/L). Choose by chest + height and length. When a teen outgrows girls' bottoms, the letter (S/M/L) is usually a smoother transition than the number — see Women's bottoms.

Girls' Shoes

Same children's shoe rules as boys until the teen break — the split is styling, not sizing. See Shoes for adult/kids equivalence and width tables.

Fit & Common Mistakes

Fit & common mistakes

  • Use height (cm) for EU sizing and age for UK/US — but a tall girl sizes up.
  • Don't trust the boys' chart after ~age 8 — hips and shoulders diverge.
  • "6X" is a girls-only half-step — a boy in 6X is usually an error.
  • Girls' dresses are often sized to chest × height, so a petite tall girl may need a long/tall version not in the standard letter.
  • Size up for EU fit — EU kids run slimmer than US.
